Prince Harry's 'living legend' honour blasted as 'hollow' and 'utterly pathetic'

The Duke of Sussex will be honoured at the Los Angeles event today, presented by John Travolta, for his contribution to aviation and aerospace while working as a British Army veteran and pilot. The royal completed two tours of Afghanistan as a co-pilot and gunner during his time.

Former Apprentice star Ryan Mark-Parsons claimed the Sussexes want to be “painted in the best light” with their philanthropic efforts.

“There’s all kinds of posturing I just think that it’s utterly pathetic,” he exclusively told Express.co.uk. “I just think there’s something so ‘pick me’ about them.”

He continued: “So this aviation award – I just think it’s all manufactured publicity, and just to make them seem philanthropic and fantastic. And just the best kind of people, role models inspirations, and I just think it’s so hollow.”

Ryan-Mark went on: “They’ve had the most privileged lives on the planet. And yet there’s always some kind of issue. They just can never like, get on with life.”

eThe Living Legends of Aviation Awards will be held on January 19 in Beverly Hills. They will be hosted by Hollywood actor and qualified pilot John Travolta. Harry will take his place alongside other aviation and aerospace “legends” including Buzz Aldrin, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford and Morgan Freeman.

Other aerospace icons set to be inducted alongside Harry this year include US Navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Hinton.

A statement on the event’s website said: “Prince Harry is a humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist. He has dedicated his life to advancing causes that he is passionate about and that bring about permanent change for people and places.”

Elsewhere, Ryan-Mark, who was the youngest contestant to take part in The Apprentice in 2019, also announced his new venture as he teamed up with The Sun’s Showbiz Editor, Amanda Devlin, for their podcast Showbiz Unfiltered.

Addressing what audiences can expect from the podcast is a no holds bar approach to the latest showbiz gossip and royal news and is expected to launch later this month.

“We’re going to be dissecting stories, all of the latest showbiz news, but it’s going to be completely unfiltered,” he said. “I’m just going to say whatever’s on my mind without any kind of fear of consequences or repercussions.

“The purpose of it is to update people in about 20 minutes. That’s how long the episode will be and we will also cover all of the latest headlines in showbiz, celebrity and royal family entertainment. I’m looking forward to getting it out there.”

Showbiz Unfiltered will be available on all podcast platforms later this month.
