Prince Harry's Duke of Sussex title being stripped was 'discussed at highest level'

There have been “serious discussions” in the Royal Family about Prince Harry being stripped of his current title, the Duke of Sussex, an author has claimed in a new bombshell book. Royal author Robert Jobson’s forthcoming book “Our King: Charles III” is set to be published on Thursday and it has unveiled bombshell allegations about Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.

According to Jobson, senior officials feel Harry has “turned his back on everything he has known”. They reportedly want the Duke of Sussex’s title to officially be demoted to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor of Montecito, California.

But King Charles is “not to be in favour” of axing Harry’s royal title and has “enduring love for his son”, the book claims.

In an extract from the book published in the Daily Mail, Robson writes: “The idea of stripping Harry of his Duke of Sussex title has been discussed at the highest level.

“The King is said not to be in favour, but other senior Royals are less indulgent.

“Ultimately, despite Charles’s enduring love for his son, he will come under increasing pressure if Harry continues to attack the monarchy.

“At that point, the King would have two options: put up with the spreading stain on his reign, or take action to limit its scope.”

Citing senior sources, the book also alleges that Harry has been a “victim of Stockholm syndrome”, while Meghan has been blamed for the Sussexes’ fallout with the Royal Family.

Meanwhile, the book also claims the King decided that Meghan should not have accompanied Harry to Balmoral for a family gathering after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry allegedly insisted for Meghan come with him to Scotland, which “did not go down well with the family” and were “shocked by his behaviour”, senior sources are quoted saying.

Harry and Meghan unleashed a series of scathing allegations about the Royal Family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and later in Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare and the Netflix docuseries “Harry and Meghan”.

Now, his relationship with the Firm appears to be tainted and senior royal officials are furious.

The Princess of Wales said that her walk around Windsor with the couple following the death of the Queen was “one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do”, Jobson also writes in his forthcoming book.

One senior aide told him: “Some blame Meghan Markle for the fallout, ignoring the fact that Harry seems to be the driving force in everything that happened.

“There was a point when officials joked Harry was the victim of Stockholm syndrome, and he was Meghan’s hostage, but now most just feel Harry has turned his back on everything he has known.”

This comes after certain patronages were already removed from Sussexes after they stepped back as senior, working royals in the Britain. They still have projects like the Invictus Games, which Harry set up in 2014 as they are privately held patronages.

But some patronages handed over to the couple by the Queen have since been handed back. This included Meghan’s patronage of the National Theatre, which was later given to Camilla by the Queen in March 2022.
