Prince Harry reportedly gave Prince William a very curt “two-word response” when his elder brother previously wished to meet to discuss their ongoing feud.
William was previously keen to meet with Harry in an attempt to settle things between them.
According to one royal book, William wanted to sit down with his younger brother, although Harry was not so keen on the idea and gave William a rather curt two-word response.
Harry reportedly rejected the chance to meet with William, with the former royal first hinting at a feud back in 2019.
Speaking to ITV’s Tom Bradby before their departure, Harry had said that he and Meghan were “struggling” with their life as working royals.
According to the book ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown’, after his interview with ITV broadcast, William tried reaching out to Harry.
Harry was reportedly keen on the idea at first, following a message from William asking if he could “come and see him”.
Author Valentine Low wrote: “Then he spoke to his brother again and asked him whom he would tell.
“William explained that he’d have to clear his schedule, which would mean telling his private secretary. At that point, Harry told him: Don’t come.”
Mr Low added: “[Harry] was so concerned that William’s team would leak the visit to the Press that he would rather not see his brother than risk it getting into the papers.”
He added that news of Harry’s dismissal of the meeting came as “heartbreaking” news to those who knew both brothers.
Despite their closeness in their younger years, tensions have remained high over the last few years.
The pair’s relationship became even more strained following Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020.
The brothers have reunited at various royal events over the past few years, including the funerals of their paternal grandparents and King Charles’s Coronation.
Despite being in the same room, William and Harry bore no communication – not even sharing a moment as they stood shoulder-to-shoulder behind their late grandmother’s coffin.
Harry has lived in the US with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, since their departure.
The brothers’ feud has seemingly meant that William doesn’t have a close relationship with his nephew and niece, nor do his three children with their cousins.
