Prince Harry warned 'cooling' needed with King Charles as he plots UK return

Prince Harry has been told a “cooling of relations” is still needed before he secures a reconciliation with King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex has been tipped to return to the UK after growing “lonely and isolated” in his new home in California.

Harry has been settled in Montecito with wife Meghan Markle and their two children for more than two years now but friends of the couple have admitted in the past that “he does miss home.”

However, the Duke does not face an easy path back into the royal fold and will need to wait a while before he’s allowed to re-enter the King’s inner circles.

Royal editor Russell Meyers said: “What’s the relationship like with his father? It’s still very, very strained I understand.

“He won’t be coming here to celebrate his dad’s 75th birthday in just a matter of days, there’s going to be a party at Clarence House for the King.

“No doubt we’ll see all the royals gathering there and enjoying the celebrations. Why shouldn’t Harry be there when they are? However, it still needs a bit of cooling of relations I think.”

Discussing reports of Harry feeling isolated, Myers noted the Duke of Sussex has reduced his public outings as of late.

The couple has been spotted out and about in recent weeks but they attended only one official engagement linked to their foundation over the past month – a forum marking World Mental Health Day in New York last month.

The royal expert suggested the silence could indicate the couple is working on a new project and biding their time to make an official announcement.

He told Sky News Australia: “Moving forward how isolated is Harry, there definitely seems to be less activity with Harry and Meghan.

“We haven’t seen Meghan for a long time. What are they trying to work on in the background? Is it going to be a new book, is it going to be a new series, we’ll have to wait and see.

“But when you look at Harry and see what his life is like now, it’s obviously very different from a few years ago.”

Myers however suggested the Duke is moving in the right direction with a shift back towards advocacy work instead of releasing new bombshell claims about his family.

He added: “When you talk about this new role on the African Wildlife Board of Directors, that’s surely a step in the right direction – work with your passions, work with what makes you interested in life.”
