Prince Harry slammed for ‘deplorable’ response to Princess Kate photo fiasco

A former BBC royal correspondent has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for not sending well-wishes to Princess Kate during her current struggles, calling their antics “deplorable”.

Royal expert Michael Cole explained how big rows are often “patched up” in families. He said: “Even in families where there is a falling out, when people are really up against it, even the worst rows are patched up.”

“I think it is quite deplorable when it’s Prince Harry, who was so close to his brother and the Princess of Wales.”

Princess Kate issued an apology this week for releasing a manipulated photo of her hugging her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis on Mother’s Day.

It was the Princess of Wales’s first photo issued since her abdominal surgery back in January, but multiple agencies chose to pull it from circulation due to hints of the image being “manipulated” and bouts of speculation arising online.

The royal expert told GB News he believed the late Princess Diana would be “so upset” about Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud.

He added: “She thought those boys would always be there for each other. To see what has happened, she would be distressed in the extreme. I am so glad she is not here to see it because it would break her heart.”

Prince Harry and Prince William are set to make a “joint appearance” at the Diana Legacy Awards this evening. The event will be held Science Museum, and although Prince William is set to give a speech, Prince Harry will be congratulating the winners via video calls.

The unique accolade celebrates the achievements of 20 outstanding young leaders, visionaries and role models from across the world who inspire new generations.

It states on the charity’s website the mission is to “empower young people to lead that change through a range of initiatives which unlock their potential, inspire action and create opportunities.”

Making comparisons between Kate and Meghan, a story later appeared in the outlet, Page Six, quoting a source close to Harry and Meghan as saying: “This isn’t a mistake Meghan would ever make, she has a keen eye and freakish attention to detail.”

However, the claim was slapped down within hours with a spokesperson from Archewell Foundation saying it did “not come from” them.

Mr Cole said if a statement was to be issued by the California-based couple, it should have served as an opportunity to send well-wishes to the future Queen.

He said: “They have never issued one single word of comfort to her. When you consider the Prince and Princess of Wales were married in 2011 and living in Kensington Palace, Harry was almost a fixture there, they were very happy and got on terribly well with Harry.”
