Prince Harry ‘should have sought permission’ before speaking about King Charles’s health

Mid-trip to Vancouver for an Invictus Games event, Prince Harry sat down for a new interview on Good Morning America where he discussed King Charles’s health – sparking concern from a royal correspondent who hopes he “sought permission”.

Good Morning America was joined by the Duke to detail “his life with Meghan, how his father King Charles is doing, and his passion for supporting wounded warriors.”

Royal correspondent Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, speaking on GB News said: “You would hope there was at least some indication from Harry of seeking permission to speak about his father’s health in this way.”

He added: “I would hope that he’s limited his comments because we have to remember, this is a discussion about another person’s health.”

During the interview on GB News, the royal correspondent referenced Prince William, who has spoken about his father’s health at London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala – but briefly.

Rafe Heydel-Mankoo said: “Prince William has also spoken about his father’s condition but in a very limited context.

“All he said was that he expressed his gratitude to the public for their messages of support for his wife, who’s also undergone surgery and for his father.”

When GB News host, Ben Leo asked what the Royal Family’s reaction to the interview would be, the expert responded: “They may well have learned about this in the same way that we did.”

The Duke of Sussex was interviewed for the first time since King Charles postponed all public-facing duties because of his cancer diagnosis.

Commenting on the interview, body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk that Harry seemed “evasive” towards certain probes into his personal life, and when speaking about his UK family.

The news about His Majesty’s cancer broke at 6pm UK time on Monday, February 5, although some close family members including Harry had been personally informed before.

Harry dashed back to the UK as soon as he had found out, but only got to see the King for around 30 minutes at Clarence House, before spending the night, not in any royal residences, but a luxury hotel.

The Duke then left for the UK around 25 hours after his time spent in the UK’s capital.

When quizzed about going back to the UK on Good Morning America, Prince Harry retorted “I have my own family” when he was questioned further about his relationship with the Firm.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made headlines around the world as they currently attend the ‘One Year to Go’ Invictus Games event in Canada – a Paralympic-style competition to support ex-service men and women hosted last year in Dusseldorf, Germany.
