Prince Harry 'needs to do two big things for King Charles and William to forgive him'

Prince Harry needs to do two big things in order for King Charles and Prince William to “mend fences”, claims the Daily Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden.

The Duke of Sussex has been at loggerheads with the Royal Family for a number of years, particularly since the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

Taking to the latest edition of his Palace Confidential newsletter, Mr Eden said that there were at least two things that could source a degree of forgiveness from his father and brother – quit making enterprises and issue an apology.

It has previously been suggested that the King, although keen to mend fences with Harry, is adamant that his younger son won’t return to royal duties.

This comes after it was previously reported that Harry had told friends that he wouldn’t mind helping his father out on public duties whilst he steps back due to his cancer treatment.

Mr Eden wrote: “The King, my colleague Rebecca English was told, was firmly of the opinion that there was no way back for Harry as a working royal ‘in any way, shape or form’.”

He added: “Now, Harry wants to return to royal duties, in some form, I am told. But this week he’s been given a taste of what to expect when his brother is King – isolation.

“There is no way that the Sussexes will ever be allowed to rejoin ‘The Firm’ when William’s on the throne, unless they give up money-making and apologise for their behaviour over the past few years.

“I won’t hold my breath.”

Shortly after the couple stepped down, the Sandringham Summit took place with Queen Elizabeth II took place.

At this summit, an agreement was laid out that Harry and Meghan had “made [it] clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives”.

The couple also stated in their own official statement regarding their decision to step down on January 8, 2020, that they wished to “work to become financially independent”.

According to Mr Eden, William was “adamant” that the Royal Household should stick to the agreement made at the summit with the late Queen.

Despite stating that Harry should issue his family an apology, the Duke has made it clear that he is the one who wants an apology – especially one for his wife Meghan Markle.

Harry and Meghan now reside in America with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

The couple first lived in Canada after their move out of the UK in 2020, then settled into life in California
