Prince Harry misses 'serious' Coronation deadline that could increase security fears

Prince Harry could be set to face more problems ahead of his potential visit to the UK next month. The 38-year-old, who has been involved in a long-standing dispute with the British government over his security arrangements, could now face problems regarding security after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex missed last week’s deadline for responding to the King’s Coronation invite.

Harry also demanded to know of anyone else who had been deemed the same threat assessment after leaving public duty.

The 38-year-old has previously taken legal action against the decision made.

Harry’s lawyers previously claimed that the Duke is “gravely concerned” about his safety and security during his UK visits.

In September 2021, Harry won a judicial review but, as of yet, no date has been set in place for the hearing.

In March, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly released a statement saying that they had received an invite to the King’s Coronation.

The statement, released by their spokesperson, read: “I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation.

“An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

It has been reported that the deadline to reply to the invite was end of play on April 3.

The couple’s two children, however, were reportedly not included in the invite.

The date of the Coronation – May 6 – also happens to be their son Archie’s fourth birthday.

Harry and Meghan’s daughter, Lilibet, will be a few weeks shy of her second birthday.

The ages of the two children are likely the reason they may not attend the Coronation, if their parents do chose to attend.
