Prince Harry left Meghan Markle crushed after blunder at first royal Christmas

Prince Harry reportedly left Meghan Markle crushed after a festive blunder at their first-ever royal Christmas in 2017.

With this year’s festive season fast approaching, it appears that Harry, Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, won’t be spending Christmas with the royals in the UK.

However, in the early days of their romance, the couple did experience a royal Christmas together, with Meghan accompanying Harry to the Norfolk estate.

When Meghan joined the royals at Christmas in 2017, the royals would have broken a few rules in order for it to happen – as the couple weren’t yet married.

Despite seemingly trying to impress, Meghan did appear to experience one faux pas when it came to one interaction.

In the couple’s explosive Netflix series, which was released last December, Meghan opened up about her first royal Christmas.

Meghan then explained how she was impressed with her and Harry’s first royal Christmas, even excitingly sneaking off to call her mum to tell her how amazing it was.

She then went on to discuss one moment that she shared with Harry’s late grandfather, Prince Philip.

Meghan recalled: “I remember so vividly the first Christmas at Sandringham. Calling my mum, and she’s like, ‘How’s it going?'”

She then added: “And I said, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s amazing’. It’s just like a big family like I always wanted. And there was just this constant movement and energy and fun.”

Meghan then shared that, during the evening, she was sat next to Prince Philip, or, as she said, “H’s grandfather”.

She said: “And I just thought it was so wonderful. I was like, ‘Oh, we chatted and it was so great. And I talked about this and talked about this. He [Prince Harry] was like, ‘You had his bad ear. He couldn’t hear anything you were saying’.

“I was like, ‘Oh… well, I thought it went really well!'”

Although they will likely not be in the UK, Meghan and Harry’s Christmas plans this year remain unknown.

Sources have recently claimed that Harry and Meghan would accept an invitation to spend the festive period with the royals at Sandringham this year.

It comes as relations have seemingly begun to thaw between the Duke of Sussex and the King after they shared a ‘warm’ phone call last week.
