Prince Harry knocks back 'six beers' and leaves 'huge tip' at big birthday outing

Prince Harry kicked off his birthday celebrations with “six beers” and a “very jolly good time” at a German brewery in Düsseldorf.

Harry and wife Meghan Markle were spotted with a small contingency of the Duke of Sussex’s aides at Schumacher, right in the centre of the German city currently hosting the Invictus Games.

A photo shared on Instagram shows the couple posing with what appear to be other customers while Harry shakes hands with a member of staff.

Head waiter Frank Wacker, who has been with the brewery for nearly 40 years, said the party seemed to be having fun – saying Harry had downed six beers to Meghan’s one.

The party went all out with the celebrations, trying out typical delicacies like pork knuckle, sausages, roast and mashed potatoes. The staff also presented the Duke with a special white chocolate birthday cake.

“They were very happy. He is a lovely man, and they were so nice,” Wackers said.

The head waiter also said Harry’s bodyguard Chris Sanchez teased that he “would kill [him] if the beer was bad.”

The security man later happily posed for photos alongside Harry and Meghan.

Brauerei Schumacher owner Thea Ungermann told the Daily Mail she got “goosebumps” when she spotted the royal couple walking into her brewery, and added she “couldn’t believe” her eyes.

Ungermann added that the “lovely” couple appeared to be “very relaxed,” and Harry even gave her a hug as he had a “very jolly good time.”

The Duke picked up the tab for the whole party and left staff a rather handsome tip.

Harry and Meghan returned to their $2,500-a-night hotel with the group “just shy of midnight,” and his aides sang him “Happy Birthday,” before having another cake, a source close to the royal said.

The couple is scheduled to remain in Düsseldorf until the Invictus Games’s closing ceremony on Saturday night.

Harry arrived in Germany last Friday after spending two days in England, where he marked the first anniversary of the late Queen’s death with a private visit to her resting place.

Meghan joined him on Tuesday and the loved-up pair have been inseparable since, holding hands and indulging in light PDA as they watch the competition go on.
