Prince Harry frowns as Meghan Markle beams in first public appearance since birthday row

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out to inaugurate a new veteran centre in Downtown San Diego mere days after they confirmed they had “no contact” from the King about his upcoming birthday.

The Duchess looked classy in a sleek tailored black suit and was all smiles as she joined officials for the cutting of the ribbon.

The Duke however appeared far more subdued than his wife, at times appearing as if frowning while listening to official speeches.

As the couple were thanked for their support, Harry gave a curt “thank you,” as Meghan beamed.

The opening of the veteran centre marked their first official outing since they jetted off to New York last month to mark World Mental Health Day.

The inauguration came after the couple spent the morning with veterans and active duty personnel at Camp Pendleton ahead of Veterans Day.

But over the past few days, Meghan and Harry have been back at the centre of the spotlight over reportsof their potential return to the UK to mark the King’s birthday on November 14.

Sources told the Sunday Times the Duke of Sussex had been invited to join the celebrations at Clarence House with the rest of his family but had instead “snubbed” his father’s olive branch.

A representative for the couple on Tuesday issued a statement refuting the claims, stating that the couple had not been invited instead – fuelling a new wave of speculation about the true state of Harry’s relationship with the King.
