Prince Harry 'back to square one' after 'trying to end feud' with Royal Family

Prince Harry has found himself “back to square one” in his efforts to bury the hatchet and make peace with senior members of the Royal Family, commentator Duncan Larcombe claimed.

Only a few weeks ago, there was a tentative hope the Duke of Sussex could soon reunite with his father King Charles after a special telephone call to wish him a happy 75th birthday.

Larcombe suggested Harry had been “softening his tone towards the royals,” but the claims Omid Scobie made in his book effectively collapsed his efforts.

He argued recent exchanges between the Duke and King fuelled speculation Harry might have been trying to bridge the gap – a prospect the book is now making more difficult to achieve.

Larcombe said: “There’s now pressure being put on Harry to come out and distance himself from the book, and I think that will be very tempting for him to do because it seems he has been trying to soften his tone towards the royals.

“There were some green shoots that he might be trying to end the feud from his side.

“So the timing of the book couldn’t be worse for Harry. I think it’s his worst nightmare.”

The Duke of Sussex’s relationship with the King and older brother Prince William have been fraught since before his departure from royal life.

In his memoir Spare, Harry detailed how William was allegedly confrontational about his budding romance with Meghan Markle – urging him to take things slow.

He also repeatedly accused the institution of making his wife feel welcome and of ignoring their pleas for help when faced with negative media coverage.
