Prince Harry and Meghan's 'jealousy' if King Charles decides to abdicate to Prince William

An author and commentator has called for King Charles to abdicate the throne amid his new emerging health concerns in a live GB News segment.

The monarch has had a brief spell at the London Clinic in Marylebone in the last 24 hours to have “corrective” surgery for an enlarged prostate.

He was treated under the same roof as Princess Kate who has been recovering from planned abdominal surgery in the same hospital.

Queen Camilla emerged smiling from the Clinic on Saturday insisting the King is “fine”. But Peter Lloyd on GB News said he’d like to see the monarch hand over the reins to Prince William in a bid to see Prince Harry and Meghan’s “reaction”.

He also hinted at the health of King, 75, and said his son should lead the Royal Family.

He said: “I think that King Charles should abdicate and I think that Prince William should step up and do the job, purely because I would love to see the reaction of Harry and Meghan. Imagine how delicious that would be to see them foaming at the mouth over William becoming King?”

Journalist and columnist, Nina Myskow, responded and asked Mr Lloyd why the pair, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, would “foam at the mouth.”

He added: “Well, they’d be wild and jealous, Nina. Catherine would be Queen.”

But Ms Myskow added some context to the statement, in that King Charles had waited and prepared all of his life to take over the throne.

She said: “So what? The King has waited this long to fulfil his role. He is not going to go easily. I mean over his dead body, literally, he is not going to give up.

“And in terms of the engagements that he’s carried out, he carries out about three or four times the engagements that William does.”

While many have praised Prince William for being by his wife’s bedside and taking the lead with their children; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, his step back from public duty prompted further comment from Ms Myskow.

“William is a bit of a shirker I’ve always thought,” she said. “An entitled shirker. He’s supposed to be, you know, taking the helm because Catherine’s in hospital and then he’s cancelled all his engagements too.

“Honestly that seems ridiculous to me. He should be doing his share.” Princess Kate’s announcement regarding her health confirmed she would be out of action until after Easter.

It has also been reported that the King is “pleased” his transparency about his prostate treatment has encouraged more men to check themselves.
