Prince Harry and Meghan to become ‘Prince and Princess of LA’ after ‘failed’ media route

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may look to become the “Prince and Princess of Los Angeles” three years after they decided to step down as working royals, one former royal butler claims.

The prognosis comes after the couple’s lucrative Spotify deal was axed, raising questions over their next career move.

Harry and Meghan’s production company, Archewell, landed a multi-year partnership deal with Spotify worth £18million ($20million) in 2020 to create podcasts and shows that would tell stories through diverse voices and perspectives.

However, it was confirmed in June that the production company is splitting ways with Spotify less than a year after the debut of their podcast “Archetypes”.

Many observers read this as a sign that the Sussex brand could not survive without the royal association.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, former royal butler Grant Harrold suggested there could be something to this theory.

He explained: “I’ve always said they are celebrity royals. They are royals who tried the media route, they’ve tried and it’s partly failed.”

Mr Harrold continued: “They are well off enough that I’m sure they don’t need to work if they don’t want to but Harry is a doer, he is not somebody who sits there and does nothing so we will still see him out and about. I can see him getting involved in more charity work and projects.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how they go forward from now, are they going to risk more partnerships failing or will they go down the royal route where they take on patronages and get involved in more charity work and become the ‘Prince and Princess of Los Angeles.'”

The New York Times bestselling author’s second novel revolves around Will and Fern, two long-lost lovers who rekindle their romance following a chance encounter.

The film rights could turn out to be a sound investment for the Sussexes: Fortune’s second novel, published this year, sold over 37,000 copies in its first week on shelves alone.

Netflix has already generated huge numbers with last year’s release of the Sussexes’ docu-series, Harry & Meghan.
