Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded “pathetic” for their pitifiul workload after it emerged they only work one hour a week for their Archewell Foundation. The charitable organisation’s US income tax returned reveal it suffered a collosal 84 percent (£8.7million) drop in revenue after just one year.
Donations were down to just over £1.6million in 2022, down from £10.3million the year before. Paperwork shows that the donations came from just two donors.
Archewell also recorded a loss of £536,357, as its income of £1,594,437 failed to outwigh the £2,130,795 spent on expenses. The foundation does still hold about £6.8million in reserves.
Tax fillings also showed that Harry and Meghan work just one hour unpaid a week, despite dedicating the bulk of their time to the enterprise since they stood down as senior working royals in 2020.
Longstanding royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams remarked that the tax return didn’t make “cheerful reading”.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, he said: “Archewell’s tax return did not make cheerful reading for a couple apparently so determined to be known as philanthropists.
“It is reported that they made a net loss of €674,000 and that there are only (currently) two donors. Surely a couple who have the important connections they expected to have could do better than that.
“There is reportedly widespread cynicism as to whether they actually have staying power.
“Harry and Meghan apparently give Archewell an hour a week of their time. This is surely pretty pathetic. What, one wonders, are they doing with the rest of it!”
He added: “The Sussexes have certainly made a lot of noise. Are they, to judge from the above, empty vessels. It certainly looks like it! They lost Spotify, Netflix may be next!”
Other findings in the Archewell tax report show that boss James Holt received a mega pay rise.
The Executive Director saw his salary rise from £47,641 ($59,846) in 2021 to £181,030 ($227,405). He was also handed a £15,904 ($20,000) bonus.
