Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's divorce rumours nothing more than 'black ops' tactic

A royal author has rubbished the divorce rumours that have swirled around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in recent months, branding them a “deliberate black ops operation”.

It’s not clear how the rumours – which sources close to the couple vehemently deny – started, but one key event in the timeline was an article that first appeared in The Sun in May.

Sources claimed Harry has a private room “set aside” in a luxury hotel near his and Meghan Markle’s £12million Montecito home for when he needs alone time.

However, a rep for the Duke of Sussex swiftly debunked the rumour, telling Page Six: “This is not true.”

Then a separate report emerged claiming the couple were “taking time apart”, but friends of the Sussexes outright rejected this claim, telling Page Six: “It’s literally made up.”

Likewise, Clive Irving, author of The Last Queen and royal columnist at The Daily Beast, has branded the rumours “rubbish”.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, the royal author suggests sinister motives are at play.

He explained: “I think it’s rubbish and it’s deliberately put out there as a kind of black ops operation.”

Irving added: “I don’t think they give a s*** actually. They’ve got very tough skins now.”

In response to the fevered speculation, fans of the Sussexes were quick to offer their support.

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “You’re wasting your time with this idea. You’ll never see a divorce between Harry and Meghan.”

A second user insisted that they are “still a strong couple”, while a third urged the pair to keep their chin up, praising how they “have remained strong” throughout.

The messages of support came as another friend of the Sussexes rejected the claim. Speaking to Bazaar.com, the source close to the couple called the claims they were split or close to splitting “complete garbage”.

Harry and Meghan’s appearance at this year’s Invictus Games also put paid to the rumours in many people’s eyes, with the couple showing a united front.

The pair were together at the sporting competition for injured veterans and military personnel in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, body language expert Judi James claimed the couple’s visual cues at the event betrayed the health of their marriage.

She said: “Harry’s confidence signals have increased with Meghan out there and it’s easy to see why because she is using the kind of back and arm touches and the adoring face-gazing rituals complete with beaming smiles of approval and support that she did in the early days of their relationship.”
