Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told 'we get your story' after new Netflix plans

Mr Myers added: “I think we were already talking about the similarities between the characters’ lives (Will and Fern), and particularly Prince Harry’s life. I think anything that looks too similar to his life is going to run the risk — run the certainty — of being dissected or distracted.”

Harry spoke candidly about his use of drugs and “drinking heavily” in his memoir Spare and multiple interviews leading up to its publication at the beginning of the year in response to the trauma of losing his mother at just 12 years old and his anger at the media.

In an interview with 60 Minutes, he said: “It was obvious to us as kids the British press’s part in our mother’s misery and I had a lot of anger inside of me that luckily, I never expressed to anybody.

“But I resorted to drinking heavily. Because I wanted to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distract myself from how … whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well.”

In Spare, Harry discussed using cocaine as a teenager and smoking marijuana while he was a pupil at Eton College.
