Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told this ex-royal could 'mentor' them to heal rift

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could potentially reconcile with the Royal Family with the help of Sarah Ferguson, who was recently welcomed back during the Christma festivities, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duchess of York made a rare appearance alongside her ex-husband, Prince Andrew and the rest of the royals on Christmas day on their traditional walk from the royal estate to St Mary Magdalene church.

This was the first time in 32 years that Fergie, as she is known to friends and family, was allowed to join the Christmas festivities at Sandringham.

Sarah was banned from carrying out royal engagements or joining royals at private events due to the late Prince Phillips’s “strong dislike” after she made several headlines over the years, including the 1992 ‘toe-sucking’ scandal and subsequent split from Andrew.

But King Charles’s latest gesture shows promise and suggests a “reconciliation” would be “possible” for Harry and Meghan.

Royal expert Jennie Bond branded Fergie’s reappearance a “turning point”.

She told OK!: “If Sarah can be welcomed back after 30 years, hope is never lost for a reconciliation between father and son.

“We know that Eugenie has maintained a close relationship with Harry, perhaps Sarah could act as a mentor to help him reconcile with his father.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been estranged from the Royal Family ever since they quit their royal duties and moved to the US in 2020. The couple have made various claims against the royals with some experts suggesting their rift will keep deepening.

But Bond claimed Charles’s recent gesture is a “significant illustration of the King putting into practice what he preaches.”

She explained: “If he tells us all to ‘treat others as we would wish to be treated’, then it is helpful if we see him extending friendship and forgiveness to Sarah. And it does suggest that all is not lost with Harry and Meghan.

“Maybe, just maybe, Charles picked up the phone and called Harry and his grandchildren over in California during the Christmas festivities. We can but hope!”
