Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told 'silence is deafening' as Omid Scobie trashes Royals

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been urged to break their silence after the Dutch version of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame named two royals allegedly at the centre of a racism row.

Scobie has been branded the Duke and Duchesses’s “mouthpiece” after he wrote Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, although he has insisted the pair had nothing to do with Endgame.

In 2021, Meghan claimed during a bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview that a senior member of the Royal Family raised concerns about the yet-unborn Prince Archie’s skin colour.

The Dutch version of Endgame then apparently named two senior royals allegedly involved in the supposed conversation – the Daily Express has chosen not to publish their names. Omid Scobie has claimed he has nothing to do with the error and said the names were never included in his manuscript sent to the publisher.

Meghan and Harry have been quiet on the issue, but a source close to the Royal Family says their silence is “deafening”.

Sources close to Meghan Markle – who allegedly wrote down the names in a letter to King Charles – insisted she “never intended for them to be publicly identified” and that no one in her camp leaked the info to Omid Scobie, according to the Telegraph.

But one source close to the Royal Family told the paper: “For the couple that talked about ‘death by a thousand no comments’, the silence at this point is deafening.”

Another added that their silence on the issue was “interesting” given Meghan and Harry’s previous complaints about the Firm not commenting when they received negative press.

Following the publication, the Dutch version of Endgame was pulled from the shelves with the publisher dismissing the incident as a translation error.

Scobie told Newsnight he wouldn’t apologise for the issue because he still wanted to know what happened to cause the error.

He said: “The book I edited and signed off on did not have names in it.”
