Prince Harry and Meghan Markle follow William and Kate with heartfelt message to Israel

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a heartfelt message to the people of Israel after the brutal terror attack carried out by Hamas terrorists last weekend.

The Sussexes called out Hamas’ “terrorism” and expressed sympathy with the “human suffering” facing Israel at this time.

In a statement on their website, they said: “At The Archewell Foundation, with Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, we stand against all acts of terrorism and brutality.

“We are supporting our partners and organizations on the frontlines in Israel to provide the urgent aid needed, and to help all innocent victims of this unconscionable level of human suffering.”

It comes after King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, also issued statements on the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The Palace said on Wednesday that the King’s “thoughts and prayers are with all of those suffering, particularly those who have lost loved ones, but also those actively involved as we speak”.

William and Kate’s spokesperson also said: “The Prince and Princess of Wales are profoundly distressed by the devastating events that have unfolded in the past days. The horrors inflicted by Hamas’s terrorist attack upon Israel are appalling; they utterly condemn them.”

The royals have all previously visited Jerusalem and the West Bank, the latter of which is a highly tense region as Israel continues to build settlements widely deemed as illegal by bodies such as the United Nations.

Israel has been at the center of tensions in the Middle East for decades. The country was formed in 1948, providing a safe haven for Jews following the crimes against humanity carried out by Nazi Germany during the holocaust.

However, the formation of Israel also led to much of the Arab population being displaced from their homes, contributing to the hostilities that still exist today.

In response to Hamas’ attack, Israel has imposed a full siege on the strip, halting supplies of water, electricity, and power.

At least 1,200 people have been killed in Israel while around 1,100 have been killed in Gaza.
