Prince Harry and Meghan didn't warn Palace about title decision as relations 'fractured'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently revealed that their two children, Archie and Lilibet would formally use their formal prince and princess titles. The decision was reportedly not brought up with the Palace beforehand, with the first aides hearing of the news when the couple released a statement stating that their daughter “Princess Lilibet Diana” had been christened in the US.

Discussing the royal titles on the latest episode of True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat, historian Dr Tessa Dunlop said: “It looks like the Palace and their Royal website have been jumped into granting the Prince and Princess titles.”

The Daily Mail’s royal editor Russell Myers, who was also present on Royal Beat, added: “The way it was delivered caught everyone on the hop and Buckingham Palace were caught on the hop.

“They may claim it was all agreed many moons ago and there were discussions way back when, but I think they would have thought that the Sussexes would have discussed with them when they would be putting the statement out.”
