Prince Harry and Meghan advised to look towards bigger picture after bad start to 2024

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may need to step back and take stock if they are to make more of a success of 2024, according to a royal commentator.

The couple have already suffered some major embarrassments less than two weeks into the new year, as Golden Globes host Jo Koy took aim at them during his controversial hosting stint.

US-based royal expert Kinsey Schofield also labelled them as “celebrities or reality stars” rather than bona fide royals, as she accused them of “trying to visually maintain the royal aesthetic” through “faux engagements”.

Christine Ross, royal expert and podcaster, told Express.co.uk: “Sources have indicated that 2024 will be Meghan and Harry’s ‘year of redemption’.

“After several projects fizzled or combusted in 2023, we may see a quiet time of reflection from Meghan and Harry as they decide the best next steps in their careers and their public image.

“It may have been difficult to turn down certain high profile invitations, such as the Golden Globes – especially considering the Suits reunion appearance – but they may be setting their sights towards the bigger picture this year, rather than the quick flash in the pan.”

In 2023 the Sussexes experienced some professional disappointments, such as the loss of their Spotify deal in the summer after producing just one podcast series.

Meghan also signed with top talent agency WME in April, although she has yet to confirm any major deals, leading some to suggest she may have been dropped.

In spite of no longer being working royals Harry and Meghan continue to use their royal titles, as royal podcaster Kinsey Schofield compared them to Sarah Ferguson.

She said: “Their path has been very similar to Sarah, Duchess of York. Sarah came to America to magnify her celebrity. To make money off her association with the royals.

“Sarah partnered with Oprah Winfrey several times, produced Hollywood films, wrote books, and even appeared as a product pusher on one of the home shopping networks.”
