Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's 'relaxed upbringing' with subtle clues in outfits

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to give their children a “more relaxed and laid back” upbringing, a commentator has claimed.

Prince Archie, four, and two-year-old Princess Lilibet have been raised in Montecito, California, after the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals in 2020. Style expert Bella Hignett told GB News how Archie and Lilibet’s childhood will be “less restraining” and not as “formal” as their cousins, George, Charlotte and Louis.

She said: “Archie and Lilibet will still have to have a modicum of restraint when dressing. But they will be far less formal. This will be exacerbated by growing up in California where dress is much more relaxed and laid-back.”

As the children of the future King and Queen, the Waleses must be more formal and appear at more events. Whereas the Sussex children are sixth and seventh in line, with some of the pressure off.

Hignett added: “The climate and the fact they won’t have to attend as many formal events means the dress code in general will be more casual.”

George and Louis are often seen wearing knitwear, shirts, shorts and chinos while in public – normally from quality British brands. Charlotte often wears dresses, Mary Janes and matching coatdresses.

The Sussexes may be more likely to wear more relaxed items such as jeans, T-shirts and trainers, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle often do when not at formal events.

Archie and Lilibet are mostly kept out of the public eye with Archie currently attending a Santa Barbara preschool. The Wales children live in Adelaide Cottage on Windsor estate and attend nearby Lambrook School.
