Prince Andrew's travel details and meetings 'being kept secret' by Government

Documents detailing Prince Andrew’s travel arrangements during his time as UK trade envoy are being kept secret, a royal biographer has claimed.

The Duke of York spent 10 years as the UK’s representative for trade and industry from 2001 to 2011 before he was forced to resign.

During that time the Prince went on a number of overseas trips.

But royal author Andrew Lownie claims documents surrounding these trips are being kept under wraps over who the Duke spent time with.

Mr Lownie, who has written books about Lord Mountbatten and the Duke of Windsor told the Telegaph he thinks they are being kept secret as “there may have been people who really weren’t there to drum up trade for Britain, but were there as chums”.

Mr Lownie believes that instead of using the embassy the Duke was “going off and using hotels” during the business trips.

Prince Andrew’s time as UK trade envoy was cut short in 2011 when a photo of him walking in New York’s Central Park with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein emerged.

Epstein had just been released from an 18-month jail sentence for child prostitution offences.

During his infamous Newsnight interview in 2019, Prince Andrew claimed he severed all contact with Epstein following that meeting.
