Prince Andrew urged to move to US to be with 'least popular royal' Meghan Markle

Prince Andrew has been urged to follow in the footsteps of the “least popular” royal Meghan Markle and move to America after his ties with renowned paedophile Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced.

In a recent discussion surrounding the controversy, Mail columnists Sarah Vine and Andrew Pierce put forward the proposition to address King Charles’s “Andrew problem”.

Despite Prince Andrew’s initial respite during the Christmas holidays at Sandringham, where he joined the Royal Family, new legal documents have reignited the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, calling for decisive action. Pierce criticised the royal for his “appalling judgement”.

Vine added: “With more lurid claims literally landing by the day about his links to Epstein’s paedophile Island, which he of course strongly denies, it could get a lot worse.”

The debate centred on whether King Charles should evict Prince Andrew from the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where he has resided for two decades with a lease until 2078.

Vine suggested that “Andrew needs to be out of sight and out of mind,” proposing Sandringham as a suitable retreat due to its aristocratic environment.

Prince Andrew has consistently and repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection to Epstein.

She said: “Living in a big palace in Windsor is not a great idea. I think he should go to Sandringham because Sandringham is in Norfolk, which is full of old toffs like Andrew, and they can sit around all day long having dinner parties and lunch parties and generally entertaining each other.”

Pierce, however, jokingly suggested Montecito, California, as an alternative, where Prince Andrew could join Prince Harry and Meghan in their home.

He said: “We could send him to Montecito in California, there is plenty of room in that house, rattling around with [Harry and Meghan].

Pierce added: “The only consolation for Andrew is that Prince Harry is vying with him in the unpopularity stakes for who’s the least popular, I think Meghan is probably the least popular.”

This comes after it was revealed that King Charles offered Frogmore Cottage, Prince Harry and Meghan’s former home, to Prince Andrew after they were evicted in March 2023. Ultimately Andrew refused the offer, instead staying in the Royal Lodge.

Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, California, in 2020 after stepping down as senior royals, leaving their home available if they returned to the UK.

However, King Charles ordered them to leave in March and they were out by June.
