Pretty UK seaside town is so beautiful it's got 1,000 beach huts

A beautiful seaside town is such a perfect spot to sit by the sea that over 1,000 beach huts have been built along its coastline.

Forming a beautiful pastel-coloured rainbow, the rows of beach huts along Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex have made it one of the UK’s most attractive towns. The town has been home to such huts for over a century.

The large stretch of “glorious sandy beaches” as well as the “classic tourist attractions” has led to the town becoming a perfect spot for beach huts, Express.co.uk has been told.

To fully appreciate them in all their multicoloured glory, it is suggested to start at Frinton – near the golf club – as walking along the promenade here will slowly reveal more and more of the wooden homes, becoming all the more eye-catching as you go.

The huts stretch as far as the eye can see, and are particularly striking on Southcliff Promenade.

Councillor Ivan Henderson, Tendring District Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, told Express.co.uk: “Walton-on-the-Naze is a very popular seaside destination owing to its large stretch of glorious sandy beaches that boasts Blue Flag status, and because there is so much to see and do.

“Besides a fantastic array of classic tourist attractions such as arcades, the UK’s second largest pier, and quality food and drink establishments, The Naze and surrounding areas offer breathtaking nature reserves and a fossil-filled beach, which coupled with the convenience that beach huts provide is why the demand has resulted in us having so many.”

However, while Walton-on-the-Naze was previously one of the more expensive areas to purchase a beach hut, it has not quite followed market trends.

It was revealed last summer that thanks to the rise in popularity of staycations in recent years, prices of huts across England’s seaside resorts have increased by 43 percent to an average of £50,000 in the last 12 months.

However, many can be found in Walton for anywhere between £30,000 to £55,000. It is important to keep in mind that the huts do not come equipped with mains electricity, plumbing, gas or toilets.

There is also plenty else to make Walton-on-the-Naze an ideal spot, including an arcade machine on the pier and boat trips during the best times of the year.

The town also boasts several gift and antique shops, as well as a nature reserve with its visitor centre.
