Premier League's 'position' on replaying Tottenham v Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp comments

“I think the situation is that unprecedented, it didn’t happen before. I’m 56 years old and with 50 years in football, something like that, as far as I can remember never happened. That’s why I think a replay would be the right thing to do.

“If it happened again, a replay would be the right thing to do or the ref has the opportunity to get both managers together, say ‘we made a mistake’ but they sort it and Liverpool can score a goal and we start from there.”

Following PGMOL’s public apology, Liverpool requested that the audio footage from VAR was released to uncover the miscommunication, showcasing that it only after an operator who would not normally speak quickly intervened to explain what was going on that the entire team recognised the error being made. However, because Tottenham had taken the resulting free-kick, they were unable to intervene – prompting a chorus of expletives from those responsible for the mishap.
