'Porn addict' dentist accused of murdering wife by lacing protein shake with poison

A dentist in the US has been charged with murdering his wife after allegedly giving her a protein shake laced with poison. James Craig, 45, was arrested on Sunday, just one day before the mother of his six children died in hospital. He is accused of killing partner Angela, 43, to start a new life with a fellow dentist he was having an affair with.

After being given the drink, Craig’s wife Angela later told him via text message that the “drink you gave me tastes weird’, according to messages included in the arrest affidavit.

In an exchange, Craig allegedly asked his wife: “Are you nauseous?”

She replied: “No. I feel drugged.”

Craig is said to have responded: “Just for the record, I didn’t drug you. I am super worried though. You really looked pale before I left.”

According to prosecutors, Craig handed his wife the spiked drink before their workout on March 6. Charging documents suggest Craig researched poison on his office computer and arranged for a canister of potassium cyanide to be sent to his office.

Craig was admitted to hospital as her symptoms worsened and on March 9 complained of “severe headaches and dizziness”.

Craig continued to message his wife while she was ill.

He wrote to her on March 11: ”I just work up dreaming about making love to you. I love you and I want you.”

He later added when she was discharged on March 14: “I can’t WAIT to see you at home in my bed tomorrow!”

But when Angela returned home, her condition deteriorated aand she was readmitted to hospital the next day after suffering a seizure. She was put on a ventilator soon after returning to hospital and was later declared medically brain dead, police say.

The death was investigated by Major Crimes Homicide Unit detectives who determined she was poisoned.

Division Chief Mark Hildebrand said: “When the suspicious details of this case came to light, our team of officers and homicide detectives tirelessly worked to uncover the truth behind the victim’s sudden illness and death.

“It was quickly discovered this was in fact a heinous, complex and calculated murder. I am very proud of our Major Crimes Homicide Unit’s hard work in solving this case and pursuing justice for the victim.”
