The Prime Minister has spoken to both Ms Braverman and will consult with No 10 ethics adviser Sir Laurie Magnus on his return to the UK to gather “more information” before deciding upon launching an investigation.
A Downing Street spokesman said that Mr Sunak wants to make sure a “proper process” is followed.
Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer said that despite Ms Braverman’s actions being “inappropriate” he did not want to get “ahead of himself” and call for her resignation.
He added: “I think if she’s breached the ministerial code she should go … in the end it’s the ministerial code that matters.”
