POLL: Should Prince Harry be removed from the line of succession?

Prince Harry retained his place in the line of succession when he stepped down from his role as a senior member of the Royal Family but many are calling for him to be stripped of this privilege.

The Duke of Sussex is fifth in line to the throne behind his brother Prince William and his three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

A new Deltapoll of 1,504 people carried out by The Mail on Sunday showed that 52 percent of Britons would support Harry being removed from the line of succession. Whereas 27 percent of those surveyed opposed Harry being removed and 21 percent had no opinion.

The poll also revealed that 51 percent of Britons believe Harry and his entire family – Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – should have their titles revoked.

It added that Harry’s popularity has fallen since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with 45 percent answering that their opinion of him had fallen in the last year, while 11 percent said it had improved.

Last week a royal expert claimed that Harry should be stripped of the privilege after his HRH title was removed from the official Royal Family website.

Richard Eden told the Palace Confidential that Harry becoming King would not be positive for the UK, calling for him to be removed from the line of succession.

He said: “This is very minor, very trivial. They should be going much further. What actually matters is that he’s still in the line of succession.

He added: “God forbid if something was to happen to the Royal Family, he would become our King.”
