Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries has been nominated by Hollywood Critics Awards (HCA) in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.
The six-part series, released last December, centred on the couple’s love story and lives in America after stepping down as senior working royals but also made a series of claims about the Firm.
The documentary is interspersed with archive footage, video diaries from the couple and additional insight with interviews of family, friends, journalists and historians.
HCA announced nominees on Twitter, with the organisation shortlisting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s show alongside Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Rennervations, The 1619 Project and The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.
Harry and Meghan’s docu-series was the most watched Netflix show in 2022, breaking streaming records as the biggest documentary debut on Netflix with 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of release.

The couple signed a lucrative deal with the streaming service shortly after they stepped back from the Royal Family. The five-year contract is reportedly worth $112million (£88,000) and included documentaries, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

A spokesperson from the streaming service told Entertainment Tonight last month: “The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date. Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon.
“We’re currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus.”
The 2023 HCA TV Awards Ceremony for Streaming will be held on Sunday, August 13.
