Police share new details on people they want to speak to in probe over little girl's death

Police have shared new details about three people sought for questioning in connection with the death of a young girl.

Sara Sharif, 10, was found dead at a home in Horsell, a village to the southwest of Woking last Thursday, August 10.

Surrey Police said the following day that they were seeking three people for questioning.

By Friday, they had launched a manhunt, with investigators believing the three had fled the country the previous day on Wednesday, August 9.

In their latest update, police said the people were known to the youngster.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said inquiries are ongoing and that no one else was present at the property where they discovered the girl last week.

They said: “Inquires are ongoing to locate the three identified people we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation into the death of a 10-year-old girl in Woking.

“Detectives have confirmed that no other people were present at the address when they attended in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“The three people they would like to speak to were known to the victim.”

Police have not formally identified the young girl, but she has been named in reports and by her mother, Olga Sharif.

Mrs Sharif, 36, remembered her daughter in an interview with The Sun, saying the much-loved 10-year-old was “beautiful”, “artsy”, and “loved building and making things”.

She said Sara had “always stayed close” to her, adding: “She’s the one daughter that I have, and I always wanted a daughter.”

Police are yet to make any arrests in connection with her killing, and officials have not clarified her cause of death.

Pathologists will carry out a post-mortem this afternoon, with a police presence remaining at the Woking home.

Surrey Police said they do not believe there is a risk to the public and have promised to provide updates on the investigation.
