Police search for teen missing for two days believed to be in 'extreme danger'

Police are desperately searching for a missing teen who they believe to be in “extreme danger”. Scottie Morris, 14, was last seen on Thursday night and boats, bloodhound dogs and infrared drones continue to scour the area.

Scottie was last seen in his hometown of Eaton, located around 75 miles northeast of Indianapolis in the US state of Indiana.

Later that night, he was reported missing.

He is believed to be in “extreme danger” and “may require medical assistance”, a missing person’s alert from the Indiana Clearinghouse states.

The Eaton Indiana Police Department issued a silver alert for Morris on Friday but had already been searching for the missing teen since Thursday night.

A silver alert is issued when an elderly, developmentally or cognitively-impaired person has gone missing and is determined to be at risk.

Police called off the search late on Friday night due to cold temperatures but a party reconvened on Saturday morning.

More than 100 volunteers worked with Eaton Police on Friday in search of Scottie.

Indiana’s Department of Natural Resources deployed two boats to look for him in a nearby river, while drones were also deployed to survey the area in search of him.

On Friday, Eaton Indiana Police Department said in a Facebook post it had sent two infrared drones to search for Morris from the skies and Grant County has sent two bloodhound teams to look for Morris on the ground.

“There has been a tremendous outpouring of support from the community, and we thank each and every one of you that have volunteered during this time,” they wrote.

The search so far has been primarily focused on fields, a forest and a river in the area.

Volunteers have also been asked to check buildings including sheds and abandoned homes.

“It’s impressive how many people have come together, so quickly. In this day and age, it’s so important to see how a community can come together like this”, Eaton Police Chief Chris Ligget told WRTV.

Police have also made several direct pleas to Scottie on Facebook asking for him to get in touch if he sees the posts.

One said: “Scottie, if you see this, please know we are doing everything we can do to get whatever help you may need & to make sure you are safe and warm. Your safety is our main priority.”

The missing teen is described as being white, 5′ 4″ tall, 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black shoes, red and black shorts and a white T-shirt with writing on the front.
