Police rush to asylum centre in UK city after 'serious assault' as man injured


A man has been seriously assaulted in a residential street near the city centre of Derby.

Officers are responding to a serious incident in Peet Street, Derby.

Derbyshire police are asking the public to avoid the area. Emergency services remain at the scene. More information is expected to be made available as soon as possible. 

Peet Street has housed a residential facility for asylum seekers for several years called Laverstoke Court.
