Police issue urgent appeal for 'dangerous' child rapist on the run

Police have launched an urgent manhunt for a missing child rapist who poses a serious risk to women and children.

Lancashire Police are searching for convicted sex offender Stephen Pennington, 35, after he failed to comply with his license restrictions.

Pennington, who has ties to Blackburn, Blackpool and Wigan, was originally jailed back in 2009 for raping a child.

He was then jailed again last year for breaches of a sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements.

Cops say the sex offender, who is classified as a ‘high-risk’ individual, is white, slim and around 6ft tall with short balding dark brown hair.

Det Con Stewart Marshall, from the Mosovo (Management of Sexual or Violent Offenders) Team at West Division, said: “Pennington is a high-risk sex offender who presents a real risk to children and women and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows where he could be to get in touch.”

Lancashire Police have asked anyone with information to contact 01253 604019 or email mosovowest@lancashire.police.uk.
