Police appealing for help to find a hunky suspect detectives have been hunting for almost a year have inundated with messages from admirers hoping to get their hands on him first.
Humberside Police issued a photo of muscular Robert Rimmer, 37, who is wanted for alleged drug-related offences and warned the public not to approach him in December.
Instead of tip offs about his whereabouts, officers were deluged with comments from people swooning over his smouldering mugshot.
One enamoured social media user quipped: “Liked, shared and commented… hope I win.”
A second woman said: “I’ll help you look.”
A third replied: “l’ll question him in my police fancy dress. Handcuffs at the ready.”
Rimmer, originally from Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, is wanted in connection with an ongoing police investigation into drug-related offences in East Yorkshire.
He is said to have links to Hull, Cheshire, Liverpool and Blackpool as well as to the Middle East.
It is the second time Humberside Police have appealed for information about his whereabouts.
Both times they used the same photo of the bearded and tattooed Rimmer dressed in a tight-fitting, grey Nike t-shirt.
The force’s appeal in December was also flooded with hundreds of comments from amorous admirers hoping to catch him before the police did.
Replying to the latest police appeal social media post, one woman wrote: “Oh him again… I’ll help.” Another joked: “He’s locked in the cellar.”
A force spokesman said: “If you see him, or know where he is, please do not approach him but instead call us immediately on our non-emergency 101 line.”
The Humberside heart-throb is not the first to attract compliments from a police photo.
Jeremy Meeks gained worldwide fame when he was dubbed “the world’s hottest felon” after his custody photo went viral in 2014.
Meeks has since swapped a life of crime for the catwalk and has had a baby with billionaire heiress girlfriend Chloe Green.
