Plum explosion: Horrific moment home erupts into mushroom cloud leaving four dead

Shocking video caught on doorbell cam shows the moment a fiery explosion erupted in Plum, Pennsylvania destroying several houses.

The footage shows a house completely engulfed in flames after a violent explosion more akin to something seen in a war zone than in suburban Pennsylvania.

The Saturday morning blast left four people dead and at least three people were taken to a hospital for injuries.

One of those patients was in critical condition while the others were treated and released, according to authorities. One person was still unaccounted for late Saturday and first responders found others trapped under the rubble.

Police received a 911 call reporting the house explosion around 10.22am, according to Allegany Police.

One house is believed to have exploded while consuming two neighbouring homes in the flames.

More than a dozen other homes have been damaged with windows blown out and debris strewn across a large area.

Authorities are urging people to stay away from the area of Rustic Ridge Drive where the explosion occurred and fire departments could be seen extinguishing flames and securing gas lines.

“We ask anyone who is not from the neighbourhood to please stay away and let folks do their job,” Steve Imbarlina, the assistant chief for Allegheny County emergency services said at a presser.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims and were investigating the cause of the explosion.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that his office and the state’s emergency management agency were “coordinating with and supporting county and local emergency responders”.
