People’s anti-social behaviour in public can range from mildly irritating to downright offensive, but one person who found himself on an aeroplane says he discovered a new low when a woman sitting next to him kicked off her shoes and rested one of her bare feet on a pull-down tray.
The man shared a picture on social media that seemingly showed a row of three seats, with the man seated at one end, and the woman stretching over the middle seat and third seat.
It’s unclear if anyone was to occupy the vacant seat, but the photo clearly shows the woman’s foot resting on top of the tray table that folds down from the back of the seat in front. The trays are provided for passengers to have somewhere to place food and drinks when cabin crews serve meals on board the flights.

The woman’s other foot was still on the floor in the picture, but both feet were completely bare and pointing in the direction of the passenger who posted the photo online. Sharing the image to the Mildly Infuriating forum, the passenger wrote: “I absolutely hate when people do this.”
Commentators on the post were equally disgusted by the woman’s actions, with many baffled by the idea that putting your bare feet in a stranger’s personal space was something that “people do”.
One person wrote: “It’s time for humanity to end, it was okay while it lasted y’all.”
While another added: “Where is this normal? Their feet are dirty as hell too. The audacity is wild, what the ****?”
And a third said: “Those feet would be getting pushed onto the floor if I was sitting near them.”
“There is a serious lack of consideration for others in society today,” a fourth lamented.
Meanwhile, one contributor recounted the story of a horror flight involving multiple people. Removing several strong Anglo-Saxon words from his comments, the passenger said: “I was on the beginning of my 12-hour flight home and there were some schoolgirls from Midwest USA and once we were in the air, in UNISON they removed their shoes and socks and the whole cabin stunk to high hell and back.”
Feet on tray tables aren’t the only things that have been annoying plane passengers lately, as one man recently fumed after the woman sitting behind him kept “stabbing” at her TV screen when selecting a movie – not caring about the impact it was having on him.
After stewing in his seat for a while, he came up with a plan to get “revenge” on the annoying passenger – by asking the man sitting behind her to do the same thing with her headrest.
The man even offered to pay the other passenger £40 for the service, but he turned down payment and was happy to get revenge on the woman free of charge.
