Piers Morgan causes stir as he urges King Charles to reveal full details of his cancer

Piers Morgan has urged King Charles III to share further details about his cancer diagnosis as he claims “speculation is running riot” following the announcement on Monday. In a statement shared by Buckingham Palace, they revealed that a type of cancer had been found during the monarch’s recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

They have since confirmed it isn’t prostate cancer, but are yet to disclose which type it is. The 75-year-old is said to be remaining “wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

As part of the statement, the Palace added: “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

Following the news, Piers, 58, has urged the King to share which type of cancer he has to avoid further speculation. Taking to his X, formerly known as Twitter, page, he wrote: “Increasingly untenable for Buckingham Palace not to say what cancer King Charles III has got. Speculation is running riot all over the world.

“If, as I’m sure he does, Charles wants to help others, far better to be specific about his condition?” Many of Piers’ eight million followers shared their thoughts on his opinion in the comment section.

One wrote: “Come on Piers. He is entitled to some confidentiality. Don’t be rude.”

A second added: “Piers give him chance to process it first, please. Its his news, not ours.”

A third suggested: “Maybe he wants to tell his family in person first?”

“We should give him a little space; let’s wait,” another echoed.

In response to a fifth who claimed it was the media who were the ones speculating, Piers replied: “Can’t blame the media… the Palace gave specific details about the King’s recent prostate surgery, seems inconsistent to now keep his type of cancer secret.”

Of his future, Buckingham Palace shared that His Majesty had began a schedule of regular treatments and had been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,” they added.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
