A ferry carrying around 250 passengers and crew members has caught fire in the southern region of the Philippines with 31 people reported to have died in the fire or drowned while attempting to escape. Many of the survivors were rescued by the coastguard, navy, another ferry, and local fishermen after jumping off the ferry in a panic.
The regional governor added that the search of the vessel is still ongoing.
