Phil Foden dropped by Man City as Pep Guardiola takes huge Crystal Palace gamble


Phil Foden has been left out of the Man City side to face Crystal Palace in what represents a gamble by manager Pep Guardiola. Just three days after the England star delivered a supreme individual display against Aston Villa, scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 4-1 win, Foden has been named among the substituted with Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne both returning to the starting line-up. 

 

John Stones and Oscar Bobb have also come into the side with Guardiola clearly opting to rotate his squad ahead of a Champions League trip to Real Madrid on Tuesday, but it is the omission of Foden, 23, that will turn heads.
