Pearland shooting leaves five people hospitalised as gunman remains at large


Five people have been hospitalised after a gunman opened fire in Texas.

Officers were called to Cole’s Flea Market in Pearland at around 5.30pm local time. They say five people – who have not been identified – were shot at the scene.

They were all taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officers said the gunman remained at large.

A Pearland Police Department spokesman said: “Pearland Police Officers were dispatched to Cole’s Flea Market at 1014 North Main, Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, 77581 in reference to shots fired.

“Upon arrival, five victims were discovered and transported to nearby hospitals. The suspect is still at large. This is an active ongoing investigation by the Pearland Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. Please avoid the area.”

Officers later confirmed Highway 35 was closed Knapp road to Beltway 8. They said the closure is in place to help the investigation continue.
