Palace 'under orders' from No10 to put on huge exhibit to showcase Britain at Coronation


Mr Palmer told Pandora Forsyth, on the latest episode of the Daily Express’s Royal Round-Up: “The feedback that they [the Goverment] have got from British missions abroad, trade missions and cultural missions is that the worldwide coverage of the Queen Elizabeth II’s and events leading up to that, and you know that two week period, just showcased the UK at its best.”

He added they “prompted a lot of interest” in the UK, and “a lot of interest from businesses thinking about investing in the UK”.

He added it also held an impact in travel.

He said: “Also people thinking of visiting the UK.”

Speaking of the “untick” around the time of royal events, Mr Palmer added: “[There’s an] interest in visitor numbers [and an] increase in tourists spend.”

He added that an interest has occurred since “last September” – noting the late Queen’s death as the reason for this.

Mr Palmer added that this interest had particularly increased in “Windsor” in “the number of visitors”.

Ms Forsyth said there will be “tonnes of tourism coming over for the Coronation weekend.”

Mr Palmer stated the increase is not just expected over the Coronation weekend, it is the “increased exposure [and] media exposure that London and the UK get.”

Ms Forsyth added that it will make Britain look “rather nice”.

The Coronation ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6, with a Coronation concert being held at Windsor the following day.

Camilla, the Queen Consort will be crowned alongside the King.

Many members of the Royal Family will be in attendance to witness the King’s big day.

Prince Harry is also confimed to be in attendance. However, Meghan Markle will remain in the US with the couple’s two children – Archie and Lilibet.
