Oscar Pistorius, the former professional sprinter who shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been told to “look over his shoulder” by angry friends of his victim’s late father.
The one-time sporting megastar is set to be released after 3,108 days in prison as police warn he may become a target for underworld figures and angry friends of Reeva’s father Barry.
Pistorius, 37, was granted parole in November after spending eight-and-a-half years in prison for shooting his lover dead on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
He admitted to shooting Reeva four times after claiming he mistook her for a possible intruder in the early hours of the morning.
After a lengthy trial he was found guilty of culpable homicide at a South Africa court. Now, he is set to be released on Friday, with his uncle Arnold housing him at his £2million mansion in Pretoria’s exclusive Waterkloof suburb.
Speaking to The Sun, Bill Schroder, Pistorius’s former headmaster at Pretoria Boys High School, said he’s warned the athlete to “look over his shoulder” amid numerous threats.
