The change in season comes after a colder-than-expected summer which didn’t see the return of heatwave temperatures until early September.
According to reports, the cooler summer has led to more people booking cruises this autumn.
According to TUI, the number of people booking autumn cruises has gone up by nine percent, and pushed prices up by 11 percent.
Speaking to the Independent, TUI said: “Poorer summer weather in the source markets has boosted bookings and demand in autumn at higher rates.”
Scottish travel agency chain, Barrhead Travel, added that one-third of all its new bookings are for winter 2023.
In a statement, the company’s president Jacquelin Dobson said: “It’s a clear indication that people are keen to make up for lost holidays – and escape some of the wet weather we’ve been seeing in the UK over the summer months.”
