Omid Scobie predicts William could be the 'last King as we know it' in scathing attack

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘mouthpiece’ Omid Scobie has looked into the monarchy’s “fight for survival” in his new bombshell book, asserting that the royal family is ‘in crisis’.

The royal commentator, who shares mutual friends with the Duchess of Sussex, has predicted in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine that William could be the last king “as we know it”.

His book, set to be released on Tuesday, makes a series of claims, including one which refers to a rift between King Charles III and the Prince of Wales.

Scobie describes the pair as having “clashing approaches and opinions”.

He spoke to an unnamed source who reportedly claimed that Prince William views his dad as a “transitional monarch”, The Sun reports.

One extract states: “Their views, their outlooks, are very different, and I can see that becoming an issue over the years ahead.”

Dai Davies, the former head of royal protection for the Met Police, has slammed Scobie’s book.

He said: “This is clearly a hatchet job. I don’t know the relationship between father and son but they have always seemed close to me.

“This is clearly a hatchet job. I don’t know the relationship between father and son but they have always seemed close to me,” he told the same newspaper on Sunday.

“I wouldn’t trust a word this Scobie says — and where he gets his sources from is debatable.

“People like this know it’s very rare for the royals to comment and we’ve had enough from Harry’s camp for a lifetime. This is just another publicity-seeking stunt.

“This sounds like an attempt to drive a wedge between the King and William.”

Scobie, who said he did not interview Meghan for his book, said William is a ‘hot-headed’ company man who is ‘increasingly comfortable with the Palace’s dirty tricks and the courtiers who dream them up’.

He attacks the monarchy more broadly, calling it an “anachronistic, intolerant organisation steeped in bigotry and privilege”, the Sun reports.

The 42-year-old previously co-wrote a biography of the Sussexes, Finding Freedom, in 2020.

Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has commented on the claims.
