Ohio shooting: Multiple people shot in 'road rage' incident in Downtown Columbus


Multiple people have been shot at a mass shooting near Downtown Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, police confirmed.

Columbus Police received a complaint about the mass shooting, which happened on the famous Interstate 71 at around 2:10pm. 

The shooting appeared to be a case of road rage with one vehicle shooting at another, authorities said. 

It is not yet known how many people were injured in the crossfire but at least one has been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Preliminary reports state that a portion of the road has been closed off to traffic following the shooting, which happened at the Spring Street exit. 

After the shots were fired, the vehicle that was hit by the gunfire quickly exited the freeway and was met by police on East Main Street. 

One victim was transported to the nearby Ohio Health Grant Medical Centre but is believed to have been in stable condition after being shot. 

Emergency services are continuing to investigate the situation to determine the factor leading up to and surrounding the gunfire. 

The Freeway 670 intersection remains closed as of 4pm Tuesday. 

It is expected to be closed for at least an hour while police investigate, according to SNBC13.
