Nuclear weapons 'ready to moved from Russia to Belarus', claims Lukashenko

Alexander Lukashenko, the dictator of Belarus has stated that the transfer of Russian tactical nuclear weapons to the republic would be completed within a few days.

Lukashenko made these remarks during a visit to the Minsk region, stating that “everything is ready. I think it will take a few days, and we will have what we asked for. And even a little more”.

On Tuesday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared that he would not hesitate to authorize the use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons, which are scheduled to be stationed in Belarus, in the event of aggression against his country.

Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans for the deployment of short-range nuclear weapons in Belarus, a close ally of Moscow. This move was widely interpreted as a signal to the West, particularly as the West increased military support for Ukraine.

While Putin has stated that Russia would retain control over these weapons, Lukashenko’s statement contradicted that notion. Lukashenko, known for his assertive rhetoric, remarked that although he hoped to never have to make such a decision, there would be no hesitation to use the weapons if faced with aggression, according to the state news agency BelTA.

As of now, Russian officials have not provided an immediate response to Lukashenko’s statements.
