Djokovic broke yet another record on Sunday night, standing alone with seven trophies at the ATP Finals having previously shared the record of six with Federer. The 36-year-old was able to reverse his result against Sinner from the round-robin stage on Tuesday, dropping just six games as he got revenge over the world No 4.
After contesting three three-set matches during the round-robin stage, the world No 1 raised his level over the weekend and was sublime as he dropped just 11 games between his semi-final and final matches against Alcaraz and Sinner. Looking back on his week in Turin, Djokovic confessed that the two youngsters were the “best players” right now alongside himself and world No 3 Medvedev.
“Very special, one of the best seasons I’ve had in my life, no doubt,” Djokovic said after topping off an incredible season with another trophy. “To crown it with a win against the hometown hero, obviously Jannik who has played amazing tennis this week. It’s phenomenal.”

“I’m very proud of the performances these last two days against Alcaraz and Sinner. You know, probably the best two players in the world next to me and Medvedev at the moment. The way they have been playing, I had to step it up. I had to win the matches and not wait for them to hand me the victory and that’s what I’ve done.”
Looking back at his 7-5 6-7(5) 7-6(2) loss to Sinner earlier in the week, he added: “I think I tactically played different than I have in the group stage against Jannik and just overall a phenomenal week.” Djokovic then grew emotional as he was asked about his two children, Stefan and Tara, who were in his box for his matches against Alcaraz and Sinner.
