Nigel Farage reveals he is 'open-minded' about joining Tories after general election

Nigel Farage has said he is “open-minded” about joining the Tories after the next general election.

The former Ukip and Brexit Party leader ruled out the move before the country goes to the polls, expected in the autumn.

But he said he could seek to join the Conservative Party after the election but it would depend on how the right of politics realigns.

The ex-MEP told The Telegraph: “I think we just have to wait to see. I’m open-minded about anything that happens after the election.”

Pointing to factors including the size of a potential Labour victory, how well insurgent party Reform UK performs and if the Tories change, he added: “Let’s see.

“But for me the thought that the official Conservative Party is ever going to move, it doesn’t look very likely. But who knows?”

Mr Farage made the comments ahead of a launch event for the new right-wing Popular Conservatives group tomorrow.

He will be attending in his role as a GB News presenter but his presence will fuel speculation about his political future.

Speakers at the event include former prime minister Liz Truss, ex-Cabinet minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and Red Wall MP Lee Anderson.
